PREPARE. That’s it. That one word proves everything. Faith is proven by our preparation to receive an answer. Here’s what I mean…If you really believe that God will answer your prayer, you’ll prepare to receive that answer.
People wonder all the time if they have enough faith or not. Is it going to be enough. Well I’m going to tell you a secret…Real faith prepares. Here’s what I know about you…When you believe something is going to happen, you’ll get ready for it. How do I know that? Because we all prepare for things that we believe will happen or could possibly happen. It’s in our nature.
Now, the opposite is also true. If you don’t believe something is going to happen, or has the possibility of happening, you won’t prepare for it.
Maybe you’ve been praying for a long time about something. Praying is good. The proof that you really believe God is going to answer that prayer, though, is found in whether or not you are preparing for an answer.
My wife and I put this principle into action a few years ago. We wanted children so badly; but couldn’t have them on our own. Both of us felt like God would have us to adopt children. So what did we do? We prayed about it. Once we felt the confirmation to go ahead with the process, we started preparing.
We prayed that God would send us the children that He had picked for us. In our heart, we knew that God had a plan to give us the children that would be a perfect match…so we prepared for that.
The process wasn’t easy. The praying wasn’t easy. The believing was sometimes even harder. But in the middle of it all there’s another secret that we learned and I hope you learn it to…By preparing our faith and hope actually increased! The preparation to receive our answers from God gave us a point of contact if you will. Things became more real.
Let me give you another secret:
Your faith will always rise to the level of your preparation.
What you have faith for, you’ll prepare for and the more you prepare the more faith your heart will produce to equip you to receive what you’ve prepared for.
Faith and preparation are linked…and they are proportionate to one another.
Here’s a scripture or two that may help explain this a little more…
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
Noah really believed God. You know how we know that? He moved…took action…and he PREPARED. This was the proof of his faith. Noah is one of the few people mentioned in what we know as the “hall of faith” chapter in the Bible. Noah believed God enough to prepare.
Now…let me ask you a question. If you have a promise from the Bible that you are basing your prayer on, do you really believe that what God said would happen…will happen?
If you have real faith that God will answer your prayer, I believe the next step you’re going to take is that you start to prepare to receive your answer.
Here’s what to do:
1.) View your life through the lens of your answered prayer – Start thanking God now for what He is going to do then. If you really believe God is going to answer your prayer, then start preparing for it by thanking Him in advance. This is easy. The more you do it, the more your faith will grow in your heart…and the more room you’ll make to receive the answer to your prayers.
2.) Start living your life now in response to what God is going to do then – In simple terms I mean to do something practical now to get ready to receive the answer to your prayer. Act like it’s really going to happen. Prepare your life in tangible ways wherever possible. Be like Noah, show God that you really believe He’s going to come through by doing something in faith.
When my wife and I where praying for children to adopt, we started getting the baby rooms ready. We were preparing because we believed. You know what? I’m so glad we did, because our boys are living proof that this simple principle works!
